Our Story

We spent years building the nest. Now it’s time to enjoy life beyond it.

Our story started long before Naked Nesters™ had a name.

We met in Austin in the summer of 2006 while our careers brought us together at a meeting. A few months later, we were married. Then came the kids, careers, school schedules, practices, games, family trips, responsibilities, and all the wonderfully chaotic things that come with raising a family.

Like so many parents, for years our calendar wasn’t really ours.

And we wouldn’t trade those years for anything.

But eventually, something changes.

The kids grow up. They start building lives of their own. The house gets a little quieter. The calendar opens up. And suddenly you realize that the life you’ve spent decades preparing your children for has arrived.

They’re ready to fly.

And maybe you are too.

So, why “Naked Nesters™”?

The idea for Naked Nesters came during a drive home after dropping our youngest son off at Texas Tech.

We started talking about what life was going to look like now.

For the first time in a very long time, there wasn’t another school year to plan around. No practices to get to. No games dominating the weekend. No kid waiting at home wondering when we were coming back.

We were becoming empty nesters.

But “empty” didn’t describe how we felt.

We felt free.

That’s where Naked Nesters came from.

And no, “Naked” isn’t about nudity.

It’s about stripping away the schedules, obligations, routines, and responsibilities that defined so much of our lives while raising a family.

It’s the freedom to take the trip. Stay an extra day. Sit on the beach a little longer. Book the cruise. Spend the afternoon on the lake. Learn something new. Rediscover old hobbies. Or simply sit together with a drink and watch the sunset without worrying about where someone needs to be next.

This isn’t the end of something. It’s the beginning of something new.

Naked Nesters is for people who spent years building careers, raising families, creating homes, and helping their kids become independent.

Now comes another chapter.

A chapter about freedom. Adventure. Connection. And rediscovering who you are when being Mom or Dad isn’t the thing that determines every decision you make.

Our story happens to be about the two of us, but Naked Nesters isn’t just our story.

It’s for married couples rediscovering each other. Single parents finally getting some time for themselves. Divorced Nesters beginning something new. Widows and widowers finding their next adventure. Early retirees ready to explore.

There isn’t one right way to be a Nester.

You just have to be ready for what comes next.

So whether your next adventure takes you across the world, across the country, out on the water, up a mountain, onto a golf course, around a campfire, or simply onto the back porch…
